I found the reason why some posts don’t work with permalinks. Well, to be precise I found the way to fix them: they need to be re-edited. Saving them (even without changes) fixes their links. So I’ve taken up the job to go through all of my previous posts starting from the very first and retrospectively title and categorise them. This being tedious and mind-numbing I cannot do it all at once. You can follow the progress by checking the number of ‘uncategorised’ posts. As of now I am finished with the year 2002.
On a sidenote, it is quite disturbing to be face to face with my nineteen-year-old self. My English back then seems a lot worse, which is particularly strange because I had just finished Grammar School at the time, so I should have been at my prime time, and I haven’t actively studied English ever since. The amount of badly translated thoughts are alarming. Oh, and my posts are just so superficial, childish… had I really been that much of a whingeing sissy? Or am I still?

Reggel nem találtam a bérletem. Feldúltam a szobát persze, de sehol sem volt. Több lehetőség is van, vagy kihúztam a zsebemből valahol az úton hazafelé, vagy szórakozottságomban valami idióta helyre tettem, ahová évente kétszer nézek, vagy “magától” esett be ágy mögé például… Na többek között ez a probléma a kapuzós jegykezelési rendszerrel: a bérletnek állandóan elöl kell lennie, például zsebben, ptenciálisan kitéve mindenféle elhagyási veszélynek. Az EU gazdaság óra keretében a Kinki Finance Bureau vezetője tett látogatást. A relatíve fiatal (biztos valami kohai ) segítő, akit arra osztottak, hogy felügyelje a technikát láthatóan megrémült. Nagy nehezen iszonyatos zörgés közepette sikerült szuflát találnia a géphez, ám az bekapcsoláskor a következő üzenettel fogadta: Please remove any disks.

Ez betett neki. Hiszen ez angolul van! Nem jött rá a szentem, hogy a floppyt kéne kivarázsolni, mert arról próbál bootolni a gép. Szokásos japán problémamegoldás: nyomogatta a tápkábelt, hátha az a baja, aztán feladta és segítséget kért. Hanyagolva a kérdést, hogy hogyan használhat valaki 2006-ban floppylemezt egyáltalán, még mindig maradnak zavaró tényezők. Például hogy miként lehet az, hogy nem találkozott még a nevezett japán úriember ilyen problémával eddigi élete során? Vagy ha valami fura oknál fogva még nem próbált neki kislemezről bootolni a gépe soha, hogy lehet az, hogy négy-ötszavas primitív angol mondatok teljesen érthetetlenek neki? Valószínűleg egyetemet végzett illetőről beszélünk, figyelem.
Vagy tényleg benne van a hiba, hogy minimális intuitivitást és kezdeményezőkészséget azért csak elvárok… (Amúgy figyelemre méltó, hogy a technika élvonalának termelőjeként számon tartott ország lakóinak egy jelentős része mekkora antitalentum nevezett kütyük használatában.)
Mindezt persze mi végig követtük a kivetítőn. Legalább valami szórakoztató volt a 90 percben.

Technikai info: egyrészt frissítettem a WordPresst 2.0.5-re, valamint megváltoztattam a permalink-rendszert. Eztán nem a csúnya és semmitmondó ?p=xxx hivatkozások, hanem a /yyyy/mm/dd/post-title/ formátum használatával lehet elérni a bejegyzéseket. Ha viszont ennek következtében valami nem működik, hiányzik, rossz, stb, és elkerülte a figyelmemet, akkor kérek mindenkit, hogy valamilyen formában ezt jelezze nekem.

SeSam.hu content update! Well, firstly I discovered (more like re-discovered) Last.fm. sLD recommended it once but I was too busy to look into it. And boy, what I missed out on! Basically the site offers a client for different platforms that watches what you listen to. Besides building a database there are various nifty stuff on the site based on your musical taste like a radio, recommendations, an event calendar, etc. The Mac client works like a charm but I didn’t manage to make the linux one actually recognise what I’m playing. It’s all well though as Audacious happens to have a scrobbler plugin built-in that sends Last.fm the required data. The client is still quite beta anyway.
As a result there’ll be a weekly top 5 artists block based on my Last.fm data on the statusbar on the right presented by a vampire girl…
The other cool thing about the concept that it’s free and all the plugins are OpenSource software released under the GNU GPL. Why is the latter important? Well, there’s the idea in economics called vendor or proprietary lock-in. Makes perfect sense. You invent something fancy and hip and you let everyone use it freely. People see it’s good and they are happily getting addicted. They don’t care much about the fact that you are holding the exclusive rights for the invention. Doesn’t matter, it’s free! Except it’s not anymore: when you have enough people hooked you start asking for money. But by then your invention is a de facto standard, there is no replacement, or if there is the costs to change are huge. People are screwed, but they have no choice…
Remember that when Skype will start charging.

Magdi kiválóan leírt rengeteg mindent arról ami segíthet megérteni, miért is vetemedenek a helyi gyerekek ilyesmire. Alapvetően az egy kiindulópont, hogy elfelejtjük azokat az értékeket amik egy nyugati társadalomban fontosak. Japán olyasmi, mint egy ősi falu, ahol az emberek egymásra vannak utalva. Egész életüket a faluközösségben élik le, függenek egymástól, hiszen csak együtt képesek a túlélésre. Az falu lakóinak élete szigorúan szabályozott, egymás közötti kapcsolatuk hierarchikus. Nem az egyén a fontos, hanem a falu. És a kiközösítés egyenlő a halállal. Ha valakit elzavarnak a faluból, annak nincs jövője.
Körülbelül így kell elképzelni a japánok közösségét szerintem. Figyelemreméltó, hogy még a tinédzserkori lázadás is szervezett. Ha valaki punk, akkor a japán szabvány szerint punk és a punkok klikkjével együtt az. Az élet biztonságos, mert előre látható. Nincsenek nagy meglepetések. Az iskolázottságtól függően fog majd a delikvens dolgozni. Ha egyszer elkerült egy céghez akkor megnyugodhat, sínen van az élete akár a nyugdíjig is. És ha ez egy európainak őrjítő is, a japánok nem európaiak. Más a firmware.
