@iroda

Kezdek egész beleszokni az itthoni életbe. Ma voltam Pesten, ahol is a Közgáz (azaz BCE) AIESEC irodájában ütöttem fel a tanyámat, és jól megleptem a bejövőket. Mondjuk a vizsgaidőszak erősen rányomta a bélyegét a dologra.

;) Ezen felül felírtam magam a szilveszteri buli jelentkezési lapjára kanjival.

Apropó, utazás, reggel majdnem odafagytam a peronhoz. (Kitérő: a peron japánul hoomu katakanával írva. Szóval a légkondi állandó konfliktusforrás.

A tetőablakomon pont besüt a hold. Olyan 5/8-ra saccolom. Creepy.

The Medallion

If AIESEC was a machine I’d say its cogs got me again. :) This saying makes more sense in Hungarian, but I don’t know the English equivalent. Yet. Anyway I was busy. We seem to have a very tight agenda for our project and time is ticking away very fast indeed.

At the dormitory the net got even worse. Now we can only browse the net with a proxy server set up. However it does not allow anything else to access the net such as e-mail programs or ftp. It does not even allow e-mail attachments to be uploaded via web interfaces. It is quite annoying. Therefore I am posting from the Salthouse again. I do hope the dormitory net will be fixed soon. This hope is somewhat faded by the fact that nothing ever got actually better there only worsened and the usual time of responding to any problem is as fast as an average senior snail.

I saw a {The Medallion} poster in the cinema today. This is one movie I am waiting for eagerly. Not like there was anything special about it or I am curious about it. Nop. It co-stars Claire Forlani. She looks astonishing. Period. And I hope that a movie liek this – I mean a possible blockbuster Hollywood big-production starring Jackie Chan might open some doors for her. I think she deserves to be noticed by makers of movies that are remebered. (P.S. I don’t especially like Jackie Chan and his movies… but thats one thing.)

Now it’s high time for me to go home and eat. To be honest I’d rather gone home earlier. But an oath is an oath (guess what the subject of the oath is) and here I am and post even if I starve. ;)

have…to…feed

I looked it up and actually you write committee with two t-s. Well, that is a word I always misspell when I am tired.

It is crack of dawn here. Ok, maybe 8:23 is not the crack of dawn for many people but at the moment I feel so. Yesterday we painted a poster for the first-years to invite them to our yearly ‘first-year camp’ where they can get to know AIESEC. And I am hungry. Lately I had little time to spend on such useless and trivial things like feeding myself. I am off to eat. NOW! Mwhahahahaaaa! :P

JN OCP

I take a rare opportunity to post because at the moment I am in front of a computer and not doing anythig else but browse. I am glad to inform everyone that I am elected Organising Commitee President for JobNeked, a project in AIESEC LC BUESPA. This means lot of work of course plus I have to attend my classes as well. I can never even chat with the people I used to. Hopefully during the upcoming weekend…

@ weekend

There might be a little bit of silence again. I will be at an AIESEC event during the weekend and I suppose next week will be extremely busy and exhausting for me. I will try my best and post from the university computers though. :)

I didn’t forget about the ‘thing I wanted to tell’ either. I will come up with it eventually. (Some more marketing. ;) )

Kata pajti

It’s even hotter outside and now no refreshing breeze blows either.

Yesterday evening I couldn’t sleep well again because there was some kind of party held at the common room of the building besides my dormitory. No matter I closed the windows – which made the room hotter than ever – it was still too loud to ignore it. As a result I am constantly yawning as I write and I was late from my first class as well.

What more I made a big mistake. I forwarded a letter about a poll that was already over. Me. The anti-spam-fighter. Shameful…

Speaking of happier things I saw Johnny English yesterday. It was funny but not at all as hilarious as I expected. There were some jokes that were pretty much obvious and I didn’t like the story either. Not that a movie like this should have a story but this was dumb in a not-funny way. I was surprised by the appearance of Natalia Imburglia in the movie though. Since when does she work as an actress as well?

the day before yesterday I visited the cinema too – I’ve got some movie fever it seems. I watched The Recruit. Basically I was interested because of Al Pacino but his role was secondary in most of the scenes. At the end he had a spectacular monologue though. As for the story it started a bit slowly and dull but after the recruited were sent to field excitement grew. Despite of the many twists and turns the story has I still missed something. I don’t know exactly what… some kind of whoaaaa-thing, a surprise or twist I couldn’t think of in my dreams even. And I didn’t like the ending either. Something darker, not this straightforward would do better in my opinion. It is recommended to see if you are interested in the ways of CIA or like spy movies. And Layla looks nice as well. Speaking of her…

Apparently a surprise hits in every movie I see for example in this one I had to realise that the actress playing Layla resembles very much to an AIESECer in our LC. The similarity is shocking, they look exactly the same. I downloaded a wallpaper and put on the desktop of one of our conmputers in the office. Some people coming in thought I did some kind of editing and put Kata’s face on a movie poster… :)

inconsistencies

If you happen to leave your room and take a stroll outside you can think it is already summer. The temperature is high and only little fluffy white clouds can be spotted on the summer-blue sky. Occasionally a breeze comes that refreshes the air around you. Definitely a weather that encourages you to go out.

Though I am happy that the time of dark skies and rainy days is over for a while but I have many things to do and that prevents me from enjoying the early summer. It also makes me sad that I won’t be at home for a while so I cannot play any AO either. On the contrary I will attend the Spring National Conference of AIESEC Hungary, which is as much a strain as fun in my opinion. Plus I made a concept for a new design for {www.anarchy-online.hu}. To implement that I need to add all old pages to the new design, and I realized that it means tons of work… for which I really don’t know when will have time.

Not to mention all the school stuff.

Say I am not self-consistent but despite of all these stuff to be done I still took some time to go to the cinema. :) I saw Tears of the Sun last week with Bruce Willis. It reminded me of Black Hawk Down very much in mood and story. What I liked most was the shooting. There were some really admirable scenes showing the beauty of the black continent. And this beauty made a harsh contrast with the cruelty and inhumanity of the war taken place there. Though the American soldiers are showed being more human and vulnerable than most of the movies I still did not feel the film to be a documentary. To be honest I don’t know if it was intended to be one, but at some points there are flaws in realism in my opinion. Despite of these I do think it is a good film to see for it is exciting and has something to say though not that clearly.

the voice within

Fast update comes as I couldn’t stand the whispering of the still small voice within…

So. Today I am going to the election of the Executive Board of our AIESEC Local Committee. It is quite a big event with many traditions and special enjoyments so I am quite looking forward to it. As for what happened lately I updated the site though it is not visible. I tried to make it better viewed with other browsers not only Internet Explorer as well. In AO I had many struggles wth the new mission system, which – after two emergency pathes – is still not flawless.

Shortly this is it, though I – again – have other thing to tell which I don’t have time to. I will need to send an email to the GM of life that a day shall be 27 hours.

in a hurry

I made a timing mistake in yesterday’s post as I didn’t update the day when posting. That was corrected.

As for today I will be short and brief because I am writing in the AIESEC office. We are preparing for our annual “spring camp”. I am expecting tons of fun there. The only problem is that I cannot attend the Saturday meeting of Velvet, though I very much want to. Anyway… I guess this is it for now, I need to go.

Dialog für Europa

Well… deep breath. I will try to summarize my experiences (I never know in which meaning is experience countable…) in Graz.

Arriving to Graz the very first thing that I remember is that it was hot. Warmer than in Hungary, though the Alps are quite near. Weird.

Graz proved to be a very interesting city on the second day when I and some AIESECers from LC Pecs were wandering in the town all morning. The vivdness and the liveliness of the Town was shocking. There was a project running at the time, which – I think – covers the year with the title of “Graz, the capital of culture in Europe”. The whole city was full of posters and green number 3-s advertising this event. My favourites were the lamps on which they put green and blue polyester sacks making them light in colours.

The whole inner city was like a pedestrianised street. Only trams and bicycles could be seen, plus many people walking. Everything and everyone seemed to be so full of joy that is unlikely in Hungary. At least not in cities where most of the people hurry with their heads down to their work or back home. The people were kind as well. Most of them knew English; even in the Pharmacy the woman spoke English, which is very untypical here. People proved to be very patient as well, a proof of which is that cars stopped every time we stood by the pavement as an indication of wanting to cross. In Hungary cars rarely stop out of their own will, you have to wait out when the street becomes partly empty at least.

The coolest part of Graz is the hill in the middle hosting the Grazer Uhrturm (A clock tower) and a castle. The old buildings that stopped Napoleon some centuries before are fascinating and also the view of Graz from up there. There is also an endless throng of stairs that lead up to the clock tower and for those who are old or tired an elevator is available, too.

In the afternoon we attended the conference “Dialogue for Europe” at which the top guests were Mihail Gorbatschov and Dr. Helmut Kohl. It was fascinating to see such once-powerful people who at their time formed history. The actuality of their visit is that they helped Europe towards the goal of integration (be the demolition of the Berlin Wall and the reformation of the Soviet Union) and with that indirectly contributed in making available our and the other former communist countries’ EU membership. They also talked about recent hot issues like the Iraq war.

Gorbatschov spoke very passionately regarding the war, underlining that the UN should have accepted the attack, and without it any war is unjust. It is a very warm thought that such a great politician has a similar opinion about this war like me. :)

As you could see above I had a great time in Graz, and I think it is a nice city to visit if you are looking for a neat and very hospitable European town.

While spending my time in Austria, my long-awaited Verbatim 8cm mp3 CD player has arrived. It is awesome! :) I wanted a mini-CD mp3 player because buying mini CDs is much cheaper than buying memories and I have tons of tracks I like to listen to. It is easy and comfortable, you buy a mini CD, you write mp3s on it (about 4 hours of playing at 128kbps) and you are done. The gadget has a neat clip with main control buttons and an LCD for displaying the ID3 info. With one charge it can work for approximately 4 hours out of my experiences, but I think it depends on the volume as well. (It has some memory inside so it switches off the CD rotation during tracks to spare with the batteries.) Needless to say it has a cool silver/blue design, too.

I also moved to the other dormitory I was talking about. Not much to say about it, as I have spent only a couple of hours there yet.
